An ura pa'u is played with one pa'u (large double ended skin drum), one pa'u mango (free standing single headed drum), and several ove/pate (a slit drum). The numbers vary according to the occasion. (Seven drummers is an average group size).
As a pe'e (chant) is sometimes used as the rhythmic basis of the ura pa'u, voices may be heard as part of the performance. The voices (in unison) and instruments will sometimes use a call and response technique.
Draw the three types of instruments you would find in a drum ensemble. How many of each type of drum are there?
